Girls Guide To What To Wear To A Summer Festival (Guest Post)

Girls Guide To What To Wear To A Summer Festival

I’m not a festival-goer, nor do I like to get dirty, sleep in a tent, be surrounded by tons of people, nor do I like fast food. But you know what? Once in a while, you just got to let loose and have the messy dirty time of your life, right? So you wonder what to wear to a Summer festival? Here are my top 12 essentials…

Girls Guide To What To Wear To A Summer Festival

I see pictures of all of my friends enjoying themselves at Burning Man, Coachella, Glastonbury, Secret Garden Party, Kimberley, Isle of Man, V Festival, Radio One Festival, Field Day, and many others.

My tips are directed to you girls so listen up my ” What to wear to a Summer Festival” guide and take this all in 🙂

     1. Wear crap shoes

Never EVER wear heels, even if they are high heeled boots nor nice shoes. I know girls, you just bought those sexy army style army green sparkly Brunello Cuccinelli boots with the fur trim, those black ankle leather Fendi boots, and (GOD FORBID you are considering these), your special Manolo Blahnik heels you got that time on Old Church Street when they were having their not so secret Spring sale….just don’t. Buy some throwaway converse or Hunter boots if it’s going to be muddy and realize even if you don’t want a beer, someone else will and spill it on your shoes every time. You can grab some Hunter Boots or Converse in Selfridges, Liberty of London, Harvey Nichols and Harrods.

     2. Wear Colours

Don’t wear anything nice in white. You will get dirty, things will be spilled on you. If you want to wear white, make sure it can be thrown out afterwards.

     3. Braid your hair

Yes, it’s all the rave this season with braiding bars popping up all over London, including at Selfridges. Your hair will be windswept and messy if you leave it down so get creative and create a hair style that works for you and lets you leave that mosh pit with your newly coloured hair intact.

     4. Experiment with colourful make up

Experiment with colourful make up, and I don’t mean contouring or Jessica Rabbit-style red lips. I mean pastels, bronzers, highlights. Be girly, embrace your womanhood and try gorgeous colours you wouldn’t usually wear on your eyelids, eyelashes, brows and lips. Try gorgeous make up brands like Nars, Giorgio Armani, and Benefit Cosmetics.

     5. Nail Art

There are loads of places where you can get a great manicure with gorgeous colours. In Chelsea alone there is HT By Sakurami, Nails Inc. at Harvey Nichols, the Chelsea Day Spa, and Nailberry.

     6. Come armed with cool hair and body accessories

Be playful and whether you’ve always wanted to try Swarovski crystals on your face, hair jewellery, henna or temporary tattoos, feather hair extensions, any creative body art. The more you stand out and beautify your body and face, the more you stand out. There are a lot of inexpensive options like Monsoon, Accessorize, Forever21, H&M, and Topshop.

     7. Refresh your hair

Refresh your hair before you go with The Bardou shampoo, conditioner, and texture mist and bring along the dry shampoo to keep your hair clean and fresh.

     8. Bring along some sunnies

There are a gorgeous selection of hip glasses from Linda Farrow, Cutler and Gross, Tom Ford, Oliver Peoples, Quay – depends if you are willing to lose them…

     9. Hat

Especially in England where you never know if it’s going to rain, snow or hail. Try The Kooples, Brandy Melville, Free People, and Anthropologie.

     10. Sunscreen

You can get a tanning lotion or tanning sunscreen from the likes of Clarins, Xen-Tan, St Tropez and Bondi Sands.

     11. Portable phone charger

It is a 100% Must Have for any social media modern girl as you must be uploading all those fabulous selfies, videos on Periscope and Snapchat images to all your friends.

     12. Bag

Choose wisely, it needs to be durable, colourful and big so you can fit all your essentials in there including your chewing gum and baby wipes to keep yourself clean.
